HV71 - The ice hockey club

HV71 is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Jönköping, playing in the Swedish elite league Elitserien (internationally sometimes called SEL).
In 1971 HV71 was formed through a fusion of two local hockey clubs; Husqvarna IF and Vätterstad IF. The clubs were fierce opponents with lots of rivalry and local traditions. By joining forces the objective was to establish the new club in the top Swedish league.

The team, which remain in the top division have won the national hockey league in 1995, 2004, 2008 and 2010.  The team have a high number of adult and children supporters regionally and nationally and when HV71 play the atmosphere in Jonkoping is vibrant.

Jonkoping has a long history with Ice hockey as it was home to Sweden´s first ice hockey arena, Rosenlundshallen which opened in 1958. The team now train and play at Jonkoping´s Kinnarps indoor ice hockey arena, a state of the art stadium built in 2000 on the site of the old Rosenlundshallen.
