Safety always takes top priority over commercial, operational, environmental and social requirements. Prioritizing security must permeate the entire airport's operations and preventive security work.
Incident reporting must take place to ensure that incidents that occur at the airport are investigated and remedied, so that they do not happen again. Proactive reporting of possible risks is what should ideally happen, in order to be able to avoid an incident or accident before it happens.
The purpose of incident reporting is to prevent accidents, not to determine issues of fault or liability, therefore all staff, external suppliers and other actors at the airport must report in the airport's incident reporting system.
According to EU Regulation 376/2014, the reporter is protected from the initiation of legal proceedings, regarding e.g. accidental violations of the law, due to the incident becoming known through a report.
When should a deviation report be written?
- Events that affected or could have affected flight safety in a negative way
- Malfunction of material, technical equipment or property belonging to the airport
- Damage to aircraft, buildings and facilities
- Situations where person/persons have behaved in a disruptive/threatening manner or committed a criminal act
- Presence of game and birds within the airport area
- Accidents at the airport
