From 1 February 2018, there are new rules for flight with the unmanned aircraft (drone). Rule change means some relief for drones in category 1 as below.

Application for authorisation is made by mail, or at short notice by telephone to Air Traffic Management at Jönköping Airport.

This also applies to the area around the heliport at Ryhov.
Before the holidays and weekends application is to be made through the mail during weekdays 06.00-22.00.
Permission from Air Traffic Control in Jönköping, where required, will always be left by telephone.
Application via mail should contain the field (street address or geographic coordinates), time, contact telephone number and email address (if other than consignor).
Permission is always required for operation as follows:
- At a distance of 5 km from the airport, according to area within the larger circles on the map below.
- At a distance within 1 km from the helicopter landing site at Ryhov according to the smaller circle
- When flying at heights 50 meters above the ground in Jönköping control zone (the area within the dashed surface on the map image)
- When flying with unmanned aircraft of category 2-5 throughout the Jönköping control zone
- At all flying at heights of over 120 m
- Always in flight with drones weighing over 150 kg

Unmanned aircraft are divided into the following categories:
Category 1:
Unmanned aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of less than or equal to 7 kg, which operated only within sight of the pilot.
Category 2:
Unmanned aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of more than 7 kg but less than or equal to 25 kg, which operated only within sight of the pilot.
Category 3:
Unmanned aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of more than 25 kg, which only operated within sight for the pilot.
Category 4: unmanned aerial vehicles that are certified to be flown, and checked out of view for the pilot.
Category 5:
Unmanned aircraft used for special types of flights, which do not apply to any other category.
