BETA Technologies' electric aircraft landed at Jönköping Airport.

Last Wednesday, we were visited by an electric aircraft from the American company BETA Technologies; it made a stopover to recharge with us on its journey from Bromma down to Denmark.

We had the opportunity to speak with the team behind some of the most exciting innovations in sustainable aviation. BETA’s cargo version can carry approximately half a tonne of freight, while their passenger version accommodates up to five passengers plus a pilot—fully electric and completely emission-free. The aircraft are also suitable for applications such as air ambulance services and organ transport. They are currently working on the next version of the passenger aircraft, which will be able to carry 19 passengers.

The aircraft has a range of up to approximately 400–600 kilometers, depending on configuration and operating conditions.

BETA Technologies develops electric aircraft, including both eVTOL (vertical take-off and landing) and eCTOL models.
Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont, USA. BETA focuses on electric aviation for cargo, passengers, medical transport, and military use. They also build charging infrastructure and advanced electric propulsion systems for their aircraft and other vehicles.

BETA has achieved significant milestones—such as certifications and demonstrations of its electric aircraft—and went public in the US in 2025.
