Popular charter destination back
Next summer you can once again fly charter directly from Jönköping to Antalya, Turkey. It is the tour operator TUI that sets up a series between August 17 and September 28, 2019 and the flights will depart on Saturdays.
"Finally! It feels great that we can once again offer direct flights to Turkey. For some time now, we have noticed an increasing interest in the destination and a demand that has increased all the time. We know that being able to travel from their nearest airport is also appreciated by many," says Jönköping Airport's marketing director, Henrik Älverdal.
The last time it was possible to fly to Turkey directly from Jönköping was in 2016. At most, there have previously been two direct flights each week. Unrest in the country meant that charter travel to Turkey was radically reduced. However, the situation has stabilized and demand has come back along with it. Despite the hot Swedish summer, travel from Sweden to Turkey increased by 74.2% during June-August, compared to the same period last year, Ticket's booking statistics show.
A purposeful investment
"We have long and purposefully worked to get Turkey back into the charter program. For example, we recently surveyed the interest in the destination among our followers on Facebook and the response was incredible! Never before have we received such a positive and clear response to a post," continues Älverdal.
Turkey will be the sixth charter destination offered directly from Jönköping during the summer. From before, you can fly directly to Cyprus, Crete, Split, Mallorca and Rhodes. In winter, charter flights to Gran Canaria go twice a week and Tenerife once a week. In addition, a charter flight to Barcelona in March 2019 for those who wish to ski in Andorra or Spanish Baqueira-Beret.
