Ski charter flights from Jönköping to the Alps a success! Bookings for next winter are now open.

Ski charter operator Lion Alpin announces a continued commitment to Jönköping for the upcoming winter. It was in early February of this year that ski enthusiasts in Jönköping and the surrounding area were able to travel to the Alps on a direct flight from Jönköping. Interest was high, and plans are now confirmed for a new departure next winter.

This marked the first time Lion Alpin organized charter flights from Jönköping Airport to the Alps and classic ski resorts such as St. Anton and Ischgl. Just like this year, the flight will land in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Departure from Jönköping is scheduled for around lunchtime on January 31; after a flight of just over two hours, travelers will be transported by bus to their respective ski resorts. The return trip takes place one week later, on February 7, with arrival in Jönköping in the early afternoon.

"After a successful departure featuring tremendous enthusiasm at the gate and happy guests, we are delighted to continue this collaboration into the upcoming winter season," says Johan Gunnarsson, Sales Manager at Lion Alpin.

Travelers who chose to fly last winter were treated to a very special reception at Jönköping Airport. Staff dressed in lederhosen served pretzels and drinks, while classic après-ski hits played over the terminal's loudspeakers.

Our geographical location means we can reach two million people within a 90-minute drive—people who can get to our airport relatively easily. It’s great to be able to surprise them with that little extra touch, especially those who may never have flown from here before," says Henrik Älverdal, Commercial Manager at Jönköping Airport. Lion Alpin partners with the Swiss airline People’s Airline, operating an Embraer 170 aircraft with a capacity of 76 passengers. The aircraft can accommodate a limited number of ski bags, and travelers wishing to rent equipment have the option to pre-book a complete ski set through Lion Alpin.

About Ischgl
Ischgl is the village with the tricky name that you’ll never forget. It is home to the most modern lift system in Austria—and perhaps the entire Alps. With a charming pedestrian street stretching from one end of the village to the other—lined with small shops, cafés, restaurants, and bars—it is easy to fall in love with this Alpine gem. A coffee with a view of the surrounding mountains is never a bad way to rest tired legs.
